[Hasbro] Review: Poe’s X-Wing Fighter

Today two new review, first Poe’s X-Wing Fighter! The set is sold with an exclusive Poe Dameron figure (with his blaster and his helmet). This is a new design of the X-Wing we all know. In the version from the Original Trilogy, it had 4 big circular reactors, here it has still 4 reactors but it’s a round divided in two on each wings. The wings themselves have changed too. It is also a smaller model than the previous X-Wing. Poe’s X-Wing is black as he becomes Black Leader at one point in the movie (at the beginning of The Force Awakens, he owns a Blue X-Wing as seen in the trailer that will probably be destroyed.) I personally like this new design, the way it looks to me is half a X-Wing from the OT and half a Z-95 Headhunter from The Clone Wars so it’s a beautiful starfighter. The X-Wing can launch a red missile and has a landing gear. As you could notice on the box, there’s BB-8! He’s not removable as it’s when you push him that the wings open and the button behind him is to close them, however his head can move which is nice. If you want a figure of BB-8 you need to buy the 2-Pack figures with the Unkar’s thugs and Jakku Scavenger. Concerning the colors, it changes from the usual red and grey X-Wing, black and orange looks pretty badass. Poe’s figure fit easily in the cockpit so that is good thing! The figure itself has a removable helmet which is an improvement comparing to the figure in the 1st Space wave assortment. It’s a 5POA figure with a ball-jointed head articulation. Great sculpt and paint apps. The design of this new pilot suit remains in the style of the X-Wing pilots from the OT as we find the white and orange colors again, it gives a fresh new look to the pilot suit. The helmet is also different, it’s a mix of the Phase 1.5 Clone Pilots from The Clone Wars (the top of the helmet) and the X-Wing pilot helmets from the OT. It’s interesting to see an inspiration from both the OT and TCW for this new ship and pilot suits, it gives something great, a mix between OT era and PT era. As George Lucas said his movies are like “rhymes” “mirrors”, indeed we find a lot of similarities in the OT and PT, like Lucas described Star Wars it’s one story in 6 parts (at the time of ROTS, now you add TCW) and with this new movie, the tradition continues. Sometimes Hasbro has problems with human heads but with Poe they did a great job, we recognize Oscar Isaac’s (the actor playing Poe) face on this figure. I think this is a must-have in the collection.
