The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Jack Thorne has been hired to work on the script of Episode IX.
Colin Trevorrow, the director, and his writing partner Derek Connolly were working on the script but it apparently needs some rewrites hence why Thorne has been brought up.
About Thorne, he is a British writer. He wrote on the upcoming Julia Roberts movie Wonder.
Episode IX is eyeing a January 2018 start date for filming and will be released on May 24, 2019.
Despite not having a panel at SDCC, there is some Star Wars presence there with a display of props and costumes of the Resistance. The official site has some photos of them. The most interesting one is the new Abednedo pilot named C’ai Threnalli as the others are costumes we already saw in The Force Awakens. If you remember, we first saw C’ai Threnalli in the Force For Change video with Daisy Ridley walking in the background. There isn’t much difference with Ello Asty, the Abednedo pilot who died in The Force Awakens except the helmet it has different markings.
A skillful fighter pilot of Abednedo descent, C’ai Threnalli flies as Poe Dameron’s wingman following the evacuation of D’Qar.
The description mentions the evacuation of D’Qar, which suggests that the space battle we saw in the trailer was above D’Qar.
The other costumes feature Poe Dameron, BB-8 and Nien Nunb.
The Star Wars show revealed today our first look at Kylo Ren’s new ship – the Tie Silencer. Its full technical name is the Sienar Jaemus Tie/VN Space Superiority Fighter. The wings are very much reminiscent of the Imperial Tie Interceptor and the cockpit a mix of Darth Vader’s Advanced Tie Fighter and something new. The cockpit interior also reminds me a lot of the Jedi Interceptor from Revenge of the Sith and with Kylo Ren in it, it just feels like Anakin, which is awesome. I think it’s a great design that fits with the character and also with what we have seen of the First Order ships so far.
It’s Making Star Wars who got the news from the D23 press release. We finally have a synopsis for The Last Jedi and it sounds highly intriguing, promising to delve into some mysteries of the Force! The Japanese pamphlet for the movie was already teasing shocking revelations and the synopsis mentions that as well. It seems it’s going to be a part of the promotion for the movie but who/what exactly will these revelations be about? It could be about the Skywalker family or Rey’s origins, but anyway to get answers, We just have to be a bit more patient! We have to trust the Force.
“In Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past. Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in U.S. theaters on December 15, 2017.”
After the Behind the Scenes Reel, Lucasfilm has now released character teaser posters! They are very interesting, it’s a white background with the character outfits colored in red and they don’t show their face entirely, just up to the nose.
Posters for Leia, Poe, Rey, Finn, Luke and Kylo Ren have been released.

Rian Johnson brought a behind the scenes reel of The Last Jedi during the live action panel at D23, giving us a brand new look at the movie. Lots of exciting things coming this December!
The BBFC in the UK has listed a new trailer for The Last Jedi! It classified it PG and the running time is 1m31s, which means 30 seconds shorter than our first look at the movie back in April.
Now the question is, when will this trailer be released? We know there will be a Star Wars presence at D23 and most likely at SDCC too so it got to be at either one of these events. Both are taking place in July so it’s just in a few weeks away, we just have to be patient.
